The Story That’s Been Waiting to be Told…

Exciting updates of the last few months!

It’s been an especially full 6 months for Virginia Dare Dress Co., with lots of excitement behind-the-scenes.

I wanted to wait until everything was official going ahead before I announced some big changes. Now that it’s settled, I’m excited to finally share the news with you!

Until now, our dresses have been sewn at a factory and then a family-run atelier in Guatemala. Our production coordinator and I visited regularly and we’re grateful for the relationships built and memories made. We learned a lot and looking back, I’m amazed we could do it!

However, I’ve wanted to shorten the time it takes to develop a collection and to be more closely involved with the creation process. Getting into the details is the part I enjoy most and traveling back and forth hasn’t been the easiest thing to pull off.

So a few months ago, I made the decision to bring our manufacturing here to the US.

It’s been so exciting to research dozens of factories on the hunt for the ideal manufacturer, and I’m thrilled that the best partner was a small factory here in Virginia!

Here’s the view from their front door 😍

There are a million little factors that come into play with choosing a manufacturer (pricing and quality, mainly) and I wanted a place we could grow and enjoy working with. At long last, it looks like we’ve found it!

This will mean a world of simplification on our end, and this efficiency plus all we’ve learned over the last years will mean that we can offer MADE IN USA without an increase in price. I passionately care about providing dresses to love for people who love to wear them. I care about how our designs are made, fanatical attention to detail, and having the freedom to test, experiment—to PLAY and let our community be a part of this creative process. Moving so close to home will mean a faster process from sketch to prototype, to the revisions and revisions and then to you.

I’m BURSTING with new ideas.

And that’s not all!

Two summer dress styles (like this shirt dress!) are finally almost ready to go into production!

I’m looking at 2-3 colorways in each of the new styles, so that’s a total of a lot of new dresses around the corner. 🙂

I can’t wait to share these designs with you, so if you’re looking for the perfect summer dress, keep your eyes out for the opportunity to preorder your favorite in the coming weeks.

As always, I’m so grateful for all your support and enthusiasm. I can’t wait to share more about the summer collection and our wonderful new factory, very soon!

Wishing you a wonderful week,

Rebekah

What an exciting, ambitious venture! Does this mean you’re no longer working as a wedding photographer??? I was so glad to have found you in 2013– your pics of Delia & Joe’ s wedding (2.16.14) were so stunning— and I still have 2 more unmarried kids!
