Since nearly the beginning of our company, there have been a handful of giving and creative women who have been by my side for this journey. As we’re preparing to gather again this Friday for our second team weekend (hooray!), I’m thinking back to several months ago when we had our first one…..

We all work in different aspects of Virginia Dare and we’re learning this new world together, spread out from San Francisco to Charleston (with Florida, Texas, and Indiana in between), and the rest of us here in Virginia.

I’d been excited about the possibility of bringing us together and was so grateful that these ladies could come for a time of strategy, ideas, and play. It’s important to me that we get to know each other, and from traipsing through a flower farm to sharing a special candlelit dinner and plenty of laughter, it was a beautiful time.

One evening together we went around and everyone told the reasons we were a part of VDDCo. and the contribution that made us most proud. It’s humbling and inspiring to have these talented, creative women bringing their perspective and ideas to this grand endeavor. There were lengthy discussions and healthy debates about directions to take and things to do or not do. We worked on designing our two aprons (here and here), and hosted a picnic and enjoyed getting to better know some of our customers and kindreds. It was a sweet time of building dreams and getting to work and I’m sure and certain that our second gathering this week will be more of the same.
